Bioeconomy Regions Summit

28 November 2024 | 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

The world is currently facing an urgent need to combat climate change and protect biodiversity. Regions possess unique policy instruments, such as rural development plans, smart specialisation strategies (RIS3), dedicated bioeconomy strategies, and tailored funding mechanisms.

Given their impact on local environments and economies, regions are uniquely positioned to drive the forest bioeconomy agenda forward. Moreover, they face common challenges – such as implementing an adequate policy mix, funding innovative developments, increasing cross-sectoral collaboration, or fostering social engagement and participation.

There is a great opportunity for learning and collaboration between European regions, especially in the policy-rich context of Brussels. The Bioregions Facility intends to bridge the gap between knowledge and policies, enhancing collaboration, co-creation of knowledge, and communication.
